F50
adidas begins the re-introduction of an icon, the F50, which marks the 20th anniversary of the debut of football’s favourite speed boot.
Between 2004 to 2015, F50 was worn by some of the greatest, and fastest, to ever play the game. From Lionel Messi’s famous 2009 “boot kiss” celebration against Manchester United, to the winning goal in the 2013 UEFA Champions LeagueTM Final, or Melanie Leupolz’s silky displays for FC Bayern Women on the way to league success in 2014/15, F50 earned its place as the industry-leading speed boot. It returns today – recoded – to support a new generation of players to unleash game-changing speed and create their own legacy.
All three models of the new F50 - F50 Elite Laced, F50 Elite Laceless and F50 Mid W Elite - feature Sprintframe 360, a sole specifically designed to offer optimised stability and traction. The heel counter on the sole works harmoniously with a configuration of rounded, blade-like cleats to ensure stability for the foot when pushing, all working in tandem to promote speed and multi-directional acceleration.
The lace-up version features a compression-fit tunnel tongue, an adaptable tongue configuration that features strategically placed reinforcements to provide additional stability to the foot and create a better fit and lockdown in the forefoot and midfoot.
The lace-free model incorporates a Primeknit material collar that moulds to the shape of the wearer's foot for maximum comfort.
The F50 Mid W Elite is distinguished by the implementation of features optimised for the female foot. The ultra-soft Primeknit Midcut collar offers an adaptable fit around the ankle to ensure stability and comfort. Furthermore, thanks to feedback from female athletes gathered during the F50 development process, an additional lining was applied to the upper of the silhouette to further stabilise the movement of the foot inside the shoe, providing optimal arch support; the two elements combine to offer a modified fit for female footballers of all levels.
The F50 will be worn by some of the world's best players such as Lionel Messi, Rafael Leão, Son Heung-min, Linda Caicedo, Trinity Rodman, Lamine Yamal and Florian Wirtz.
